24th Annual
2010 Optimist Games
The Redlands Optimist Club has
been presenting the "Optimist
Games" for 24 years. It has
been previously held at the
Redlands University Ted Runner
Stadium. Last year and again
this year it will be held at the new
Redlands High School's Dodge
Stadium. The Optimist Games
are a "Special Olympic" type
event. There are over 200
special needs children from
several high schools, middle
schools and elementary schools
participating. After the events,
which include 25 yard dash, ring
toss, and many other games,
lunch is served to the children.
Each of the children receives a
medal and an Optimist Games
T-shirt. Martha and Ted
Mendoza have been the primary
organizers of the Optimist
Games since the beginning.
