The Optimist Swim Relays are traditionally held on the first Saturday of March in between the Water Polo and Swimming seasons at the Aquatic Center of the University of Redlands. The first meet was organized and held in March of 1991.The Redlands Optimist Club and Redlands High School Athletic Departments co-host this annual event, which is a co-ed competition involving a number of area high schools. This non-league meet is the first significant event of the season, allowing coaches and athletes to prepare for upcoming league competition. For some of the Co-ed athletes participating in this event, this may be the only meet they are able to compete in. The Redlands Optimist Club organizes the event, provides all medals and trophies, and also supplies the manpower needed for back-up time keeping.
